Celebrate Food Day Oct. 3-24 at EvCC

EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College is joining the nationwide celebration of Food Day with a film festival Oct. 3-24 leading up to a food fair on Oct. 24.
EvCC’s Food Day fair features cooking demonstrations, food samples, vendor displays and door prizes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Henry M. Jackson Conference Center at 2000 Tower St. in Everett.
The event is part of a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable and sustainable food. It is the only official Food Day event scheduled in Everett.
“What we eat has an even bigger impact on our environment than what we drive or what we wear,” said Laura Wild, EvCC nutrition instructor and event co-coordinator. “At our events, students and community members can learn about easy ways to eat more sustain-ably.”
A film series about food and our future will be shown Wednesdays Oct. 3-24 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in EvCC’s Gray Wolf Hall, room 152. The films are “Queen of the Sun” (Oct. 3), “No Impact Man” (Oct. 10), “Dive! Living Off America’s Waste” (Oct. 17) and “Bag It” (Oct. 24).
All events are free and open to the public
The Food Day celebration is sponsored by EvCC’s Sustainability Initiative, the EvCC Foundation and Student Activities Programs Board. For more information, contact nutrition instructor Nancy Vandenberg at nvandenberg@everettcc.edu or 425-388-9455.
